About Your Membership

Your 5-week membership begins the moment you finish checking out. From the purchase confirmation page, you’ll be directed to the TOPS at Home Hub on for some ideas to bring healthy home right away. Use what you like and what works for you.

You can also give the gift of health by purchasing a TOPS at Home membership* with a Healthy & Active Starter Kit for someone special. *Membership becomes active by calling the number on the activation coupon.

Each time you sign in to the Members Area of, you see your personal progress displayed in My Health Dashboard. (After you enter your information, of course!). Explore recipes, meal plans, workouts, self-care articles, and wellness tips. Sign up for email newsletters and blogs, peruse our live and recorded webinar offerings, and more.

At week four, we’ll send you an email reminder that your initial membership period is expiring soon. You’ll have the option to:

  1. DO NOTHING and let your membership automatically expire when your five weeks are up.
  2. UPGRADE your membership and enjoy 12 weeks in our Virtual Chapter at the special rate in the email reminder ($14.99 as of January 2021).

    You’ll benefit from more meeting choices, a weekly email from Virtual Programming Administrator Carol, and access to our private Facebook group where you can interact with hundreds of other online members.
  3. RENEW as a member of our online chapter or join an in-person chapter at the going rate for a full-year TOPS membership ($32/year as of January 2021 plus $1.50 processing charge).

We’re happy to have you back any time! You have the option to rejoin as an online TOPS member in our Virtual Chapter or attend an in-person chapter at the going yearly rate (currently $32 in the U.S). If you prefer, you may choose to attend the Virtual Chapter for 12 weeks at the rate of $14.99.

Yes! Each TOPS at Home membership* must be ordered separately, so simply order the membership in your friend’s name, and we’ll ship the FREE kit with membership directly to her (or him). You’ll need to enter your friend’s email and mailing address as part of the process. *Membership becomes active by calling the number on the activation coupon.

Not at this time. TOPS at Home is a special offering only for new members and former members interested in joining again.

TOPS at Home is designed to provide support and educational materials for adults. You must be at least 18 years of age to participate in TOPS at Home.

You may read our award-winning TOPS News membership magazine online for the duration of your membership. A subscription to the print version is only available with our traditional one-year membership options. Printed copies of the magazine may be purchased in the TOPS Store while supplies last.

About Your Kit

No. The kit is free with the purchase of a TOPS at Home membership, and memberships must be purchased individually. At this time, kits are not sold as a stand-alone offering.

Don’t worry! Once you become a member, you’ll be able to purchase any of the other add-ons (while supplies last). Just sign in to our TOPS Store to view your many choices!

No problem! Just choose "I’ll skip the add-on" in the drop-down menu on the Customize Your Kit page during checkout.

Some printed items in your kit, such as the My Day One quick start guide and Healthy & Active magazine, are available online, so you can get started while your kit is on its way. You can find ideas to bring healthy home right away in the TOPS at Home Hub on once you sign in as a member.

About the TOPS Program and Way of Eating

Weight loss is personal and depends on a number of factors—genetics, family history, personal health history, medical conditions and lifestyle choices, to name a few. We provide the information, tools and support to help you on your journey. Use what you like and what works with your lifestyle.

TOPS materials are for educational use only and may not suit an individual’s specific situation. That’s why we always encourage you to consult with a licensed healthcare professional before making changes to your diet or exercise routine.

At TOPS, we don’t promote quick fixes or a one-size-fits-all diet. Instead, we focus on health, encouraging members to make small, healthy lifestyle changes over time…choices you’ll enjoy (or learn to enjoy) and are comfortable keeping up for a lifetime. That said, we do advocate three healthy eating plans and provide a 28-day meal plan to get you started. The same thing doesn’t work for everyone, so feel free to follow any diet you and your licensed healthcare professional decide is right for you.

Shipping & Handling

We are pleased to offer a flat rate of $7.95 in the 48 contiguous United States regardless of which add-on option you choose. Flat rate shipping to Alaska and Hawaii is $14.95.

We ship to Canada. Costs are $12.95 in Quebec; $13.95 in Ontario; $15.95 in Manitoba, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Saskatchewan; $18.95 in Alberta, British Columbia, Newfoundland & Labrador and the territories.

Shipping is not available outside the United States and Canada at this time.

Your customized Healthy & Active™ Starter Kit is being carefully prepared — with your safety in mind — by a member of our TOPS team. Once packed, your kit will be sent to you via USPS Priority Mail. Please allow up to 2-3 business days for processing and another 2-3 days for your kit to arrive at your home. (During the pandemic, shipping may take longer.) Orders received after 2:30 p.m. Central time will be processed the next business day. Tracking numbers are not provided.

About Your Purchase

The TOPS at Home membership option is only available in the United States and Canada. We do not offer shipping to other countries at this time. Void where prohibited.

TOPS accepts Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express credit card payments. All payments will be processed in U.S. dollars.

If your state charges tax on memberships, that will be reflected in the shopping cart and added to the total of your membership. (For example, if your state sales tax is 10%, then $4.00 for tax will be added to the $39.99 for the membership. (39.99 + 4.00 = 43.99, so $43.99 will be the price displayed in the cart on the line item for your membership.) Sales taxes for any add-on and for shipping and handling, where applicable, are included in the price.

The TOPS mission is to offer affordable, evidence-based weight-loss tools and support at a price that allows as many people as possible to get healthy without breaking the bank. Because the price shown is our best price available, we do not offer promo codes. We trust you'll be satisfied with the value of your membership, and you can feel good knowing that your purchase supports our nonprofit mission.

For each membership purchased, we’ll add one dollar from your membership to the $9.4 million dollars raised by TOPS® members over the years to support our partnership with the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW). Since 1966, studies conducted at the TOPS® Center for Obesity and Metabolic Research at MCW have led to the publication of over 100 scholarly articles in major scientific journals and the discovery of seven genes related to obesity and metabolic conditions. Yes! We have put in place security measures to protect against the loss, misuse, and alteration of information under our control. User payment information that is collected is used to bill the user for products and services. Because TOPS doesn't store payment information (i.e. your credit card number), we do not use auto-renewal to bill your credit card at the end of your initial membership period. For more information, refer to our Privacy Policy.

No, TOPS does not sell or share your personally identifying information. Ever. Period. Our site uses an order form for customers to request information, products and services. We collect member/visitor contact information (like name and address) and, when necessary, method of payment. Contact information on the order form is used to process orders. We don't sell or share names, addresses, emails or personally identifying information with third parties. For more information, refer to our Privacy Policy.

About Your Account

Once you become a TOPS at Home member, you’ll be using our main website, Simply click Members Area in the top navigation bar (it’s blue), then sign in with the user name and password you created during checkout.

Your username is your email. For security reasons, members of our TOPS team do not have access to your password. If you forgot it, simply click the Forgot password link on to reset it.

If you enter an incorrect password 5 times, your account will be locked, and a member of our team will have to reset it for you during business hours, which are Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Central time. Please email for assistance.

This may happen if you started to sign up on a previous visit and weren’t able to finish or if you are a current or former TOPS chapter member whose membership is active or has expired in the last year.

If you are a new or former member who started to sign up and weren’t able to finish, here’s how to start the process again.

  1. On the Create Your Account page, click on Sign In Here.
  2. Enter your email address and the password you used when you first registered.
  3. Click on Join Now button at the top of the home page.
  4. Click on the Next button to continue.
  5. Continue setting up your account.

Cancellations, Returns and Refunds

Unfortunately, we’re not able to make changes to your order after you check out, but we’re confident that you’ll enjoy and benefit from the information and tools that come with your online membership and in your FREE Healthy and Active Starter Kit.

Because kits are provided FREE with the purchase of a membership, no substitutions are possible.

We are happy to send you a complimentary replacement ASAP! Please contact us immediately at Be sure to send the required photo evidence and a note describing the damage. Claims for damaged goods must be received within 14 days of purchase date.

Your membership expires automatically 5 weeks after you sign up unless you choose to extend it.

Funds from your purchase help us fulfill our nonprofit mission to bring affordable, effective weight-loss support to people who need help and cannot afford other, more expensive, programs. If you wish to cancel before the 5 weeks are up, please be aware that TOPS memberships are nonrefundable except where prohibited.

When you request a refund, please keep in mind that all applicable discounts, offers, and free items (as part of a qualifying purchase) granted at the time of purchase will be prorated and applied to the amount of refund or credit. That means that should you choose to keep your Healthy & Active™ Starter Kit, $29.99 will be deducted from your membership refund. Or for a full refund, you may return the kit (at your expense) unopened and in saleable condition. Returned kits must arrive at TOPS Club Inc., PO Box 070360, 4575 S Fifth Street, Milwaukee WI 53207 no later than 21 days after date of purchase.

To request a refund, please email us at and let us know whether you plan to keep or return the kit. After we receive your email request for a refund (and the kit if you are returning it), please allow up to 5-10 business days for the full refund to appear back into your card.
